About.

ARTIST STATEMENT by his family

Steven R. Alban, Jr. was born and raised in Rockford, Il to a loving Italian family. One of three children and he was the only boy. His oldest sister remembers her younger brother drawing/producing house plans the second he picked up a pencil. He went on to get a design degree from Southern Illinois University. During this time BuckMinster Fuller was on campus teaching geodesic domes. Steven became a nationally and internationally respected architectural designer.

Beginning his career in Chicago he fell in love with the city. He loved the food, the people, the neighborhoods especially the Italian area, the energy, the music, the architecture, and the street art.

Steven felt all emotions deeply which he expressed in his drawings. His love of family and friends and strangers, his three kitties, his love of different cultures, and his love of all kinds of music are revealed in his art.  Every stroke is intentional and shows the influences of design and architecture, Chicago blues and soul,  Aztec, Egyptian, and African cultures and perhaps even cultures of beyond.

Enjoy the energy and experience of Steven Alban’s work.

With the honor of knowing him,
